How BLOCK X Reduced Online Piracy by 70% in 3 Months
Over the past three months, BLOCK X has executed a focused and sustained enforcement campaign targeting online piracy across Bangladesh for our clients. Bangladesh is one of the most dynamic and high-risk content ecosystems, particularly on Telegram.
What began as a high-volume infringement landscape in January has now transitioned into a measurably controlled environment, driven by consistent, real-time enforcement and platform-level interventions.
A Clear Downward Trend in Online Piracy
At the start of the campaign, the scale of infringement was significant for online piracy:
In January 2026:
- 67,000 infringing links identified
- 96.7% removal success rate
By February 2026, we observed a sharp shift:
- 33,800+ infringing links identified
- 100% removal rate achieved
This momentum continued into March 2026:
- 20,200+ infringing links identified
- 100% removal rate sustained
This represents a ~70% reduction in piracy volume within three months, alongside a consistent improvement in enforcement efficiency.
Telegram: From High-Risk to Controlled Ecosystem
Telegram remained the primary online piracy distribution channel, particularly through private and large-scale public groups.
Our enforcement impact is evident:
- Channels detected reduced from 3,100+ (Jan) to 1,300+ (March)
- Channel terminations executed consistently, disrupting distribution networks
- Over 5.4 million subscribers impacted cumulatively, cutting off access to pirated content at scale
The steady decline in both channel volume and subscriber reach indicates not just reactive takedowns, but systemic disruption of piracy networks.
What Changed
The shift is not incidental, it is the result of:
- Continuous monitoring of high-risk channels, including private ecosystems
- Rapid enforcement cycles, ensuring minimal exposure time for pirated content
- Platform-level coordination, enabling higher compliance and faster removals
From Enforcement to Control: Tackling Online Piracy
In just three months, BLOCK X has moved the ecosystem from high-volume piracy to controlled distribution, ensuring that access to pirated versions of client titles is significantly restricted.
This campaign demonstrates a critical outcome: Sustained enforcement doesn’t just remove piracy, it reduces its scale over time as pirates understand the risk for the channels and refrain from pirating the content of our clients.
As online piracy networks adapt, so do we. And in Bangladesh, the results are already visible.
